While I was browsing MySpace the other night I decided to visit the page of a dear friend. While on their page I took a visit to their photo album. As I was looking at the pictures two pictures in particular caught my eye. They both showed the two as a couple. Underneath the picture the description read “ast”. This one word got me thinking about all the decisions that we as a people have made and even when they are over and done with. We still choose to show or talk about them; All this with one simple word ‘ast’.

Our past is one of the most influential sources that we are able to look at. Some ideas may have seemed great at the time but you can look at an event weeks later and wonder what you were thinking. One of the most powerful thoughts one can are the decisions and regrets of a relationship.

All seemed right didn’t it? It was a love that you were certain would last for a very long time, yet time had other plans for you. It’s funny how people can become so dedicated to one another over a series of weeks, months, and years and then because of a bitter fall out never want to have anything to do with each other.

I assume that my friend put past underneath those photos because it was something that was important to them. At the same time it wasn’t probably something that they are happy to be out of as well. The word ‘ast’ was simply to acknowledge that fact that the event occurred but not to express any feelings about what happened to the relationship. People have their own way of expressing themselves.
